Renewable resource can be replenished within a short period of time.
But, the non-renewable resources take a significant amount of time to be replenished by the environment
Also, the usage of non-renewable resources comprise of the fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, oil, etc., has detrimental effects on the environment.
The world’s known coal reserves are expected to last for another 200 years compared to around40 years for the known petroleum oil reserves and around 60 years for the known reserves of natural gas.
HOW LONG WILL AN ENERGY SOURCE LAST US?
Renewable energy resources like the energy from the sun, the movement of the waves, and the flow of the river are some of the activities that have been happening over millions of years and will continue to happen in the future.
They are constant and reliable sources and will never get exhausted. They can be generated at the same rate at which they are being used.
But the non-renewable energy sources are limited in quantity and cannot be renewed easily once they are depleted.
They take thousands of years to be formed.
Careful use of non-renewable energy resources is very essential so that it may be conserved for the future generations.
